During the past ten years, the staff adopted a guiding vision that commits us to producing highly skilled, productive citizens who can achieve and demonstrate learning at high levels. We have developed exit standards in coordination with our students and community. We have increased graduation requirements. Graduates prove through authentic tasks that they have met these stan­dards.

It is our intent to offer our students a unique learning opportunity. They will be able to benefit from a longer, more flexible school day, with smaller class size, and increased opportunities to learn on and off campus. Our Charter will offer parents and community members ongoing significant op­portunities to become more directly involved in the education of their children--our future work force.

We continue to develop professionally, with the teachers and staff at Helix High School focusing on integrating curriculum, expanding leadership roles, and sharing decision-making. The Charter will make it possible for Helix High School to assume a greater autonomy of its budgets and ex­penditures, increasing its stewardship of its human and material resources.
